A brilliant Latin showpiece. Very playable and a guaranteed audience pleaser! Tico-Tico was written by the Brazilian composer Zequinha de Abreu in 1917 and was first known under the ppular title, Tico-Tico no Fuba. It was popularized in the United States by Carmen Miranda in the 1947 film, Copacabana. The Mendez arrangement of Tico-Tico is a brilliant solo that was performed in hundreds of concerts and tours with Xavier Cugat during the 1930s, '40s, and '50s.
