Quartet Tuba XL was established in 2002 as the first of such a kind in the region. It consists of mainly professional musicians who play in Croatian orchestras, following modern trends and willing to make those trends popular in Croatia as well. Since tuba is primarily an orchestra instrument, it was their wish to demonstrate that it can equally be adapted to solo and chamber music playing. The ensemble's repertoire varies from classic masters (Palestrina, Bach, Handel...) to jazz and contemporary composers.
